Hello, my name is Dark and I am a Miniature Schnauzer living in Donostia-San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa, Spain) and I am going to tell you my story.

It's been over four years since my life changed dramatically. I was a happy and joyful dog, delighted to be with my owners and to be playing with them and with Chispas the cat we had at home, until suddenly I started to regurgitate food, I found that my mood changed for no apparent reason, I had problems swallowing the food that was given to me... and as a consequence of all this I started to lose weight and my owners started to worry about me...
And so began the journey of visits to vets, trying medicines, treatments but without really finding the solution to my problem and of course, each treatment was starting from scratch, with hopes set on recovery and that I would soon be running around the mountains again but ... I got nothing but one disappointment after another because they couldn't find the problem and so the years went by ... one year, two years, three years and it wasn't until the fourth year after a few failed treatments that a vet diagnosed me with something very strange that I didn't understand at first and that is called "Megaesophagus".
I was shocked the first time I heard that name, but the truth is that the Vet who said it seemed like a very smart guy and the truth is that he seemed to really care about my health, so my owners and I decided to give him a chance and do everything he told us.
And so it was that little by little I regained weight, energy and joy and both my owners and I began to see what humans call "the light at the end of the tunnel" , I'm not going to tell you that it was a bed of roses and that everything turned out very easy from the first day but what I can tell you is that both the medical treatment and the fact that after eating I sit in my Bailey chair to let gravity do its effect and the food go down to the stomach, although it is true that some vet had recommended that I put the feeder and the drinker high up for my problem, at least in my case, this solution was not worth it, it was only until I started using this chair that my problems began to be solved.
